Green Office VU is led by students of the VU University Amsterdam. These students each have their own portfolio and projects. Meet our team members! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us or send an e-mail to email@example.com.
Neele van den Bongardt
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has (Margaret Mead). This is the spirit that I, in the role of the manager, want to spark at the VU – because together we can make a difference!
For me, issues of sustainability are relevant to all study paths, disciplines and faculties. Unfortunately, the strengths and possibilities of this interdisciplinarity aren’t yet fully realized. I joined the Green Office because I wanted to expand the presense of sustainability in research across campus, and to encourage more students and faculties to take up the sustainability in their work.
What sustainability means to me:
Sustainability is a very broad subject, I like to break it down to the three main pillars: Economic development, social development and environmental protection. All three aspects for me are equally important and that’s why I want to encourage participation and awareness in all aspects of sustainability, as I believe it all starts with education.
Offline Community Coordinator
“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe”
As the offline community coordinator I want to give our members the tools to strive confidently for a more sustainable future. So students, staff and future partners, feel welcome to contact me and get to know the Green Office!
Online Community Coordinator
I believe today is the day to make a change. Change starts with the individual. With that vision I entered the Green Office. As the online Community Coordinator it is my task to create a greater sustainable awareness and to show people that living more sustainably conscious does not have to take much effort.
External Campus Coordinator
You don’t know what you have until it is gone. If we want to keep this beautiful planet the way it is now, then this is the time to act. That’s why I joined the Green Office: to take my responsibility and try to make a change, even if it’s only on a relatively small scale. Feel free to contact me or drop by the office. Let’s make a difference together!
Internal Campus Coordinator
”As a kid I liked to keep all kinds of ‘trash’. Plastic candy-wrappings, wooden fruit baskets, or ribbons that were tight around a present; they could all come in handy for my Playmobil or Barbie’s. Although my trash ends up in bins now, I still believe in a society where we use less of everything and strive to consume quality over quantity in aim to keep this planet as beautiful as it is for a very, very long time. As the education coordinator I try to make sure the topic sustainability is integrated within all the courses offered by the VU. In that way every VU-student gets the change to develop skills and knowledge about sustainability within their discipline and, that way, get the possibility to help create smart solutions for environmental issues.”
