Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has (Margaret Mead). This is the spirit that I, in the role of the manager, want to spark at the VU – because together we can make a difference!
”As a kid I liked to keep all kinds of ‘trash’. Plastic candy-wrappings, wooden fruit baskets, or ribbons that were tight around a present; they could all come in handy for my Playmobil or Barbie’s. Although my trash ends up in bins now, I still believe in a society where we use less of everything and strive to consume quality over quantity in aim to keep this planet as beautiful as it is for a very, very long time. As the education coordinator I try to make sure the topic sustainability is integrated within all the courses offered by the VU. In that way every VU-student gets the change to develop skills and knowledge about sustainability within their discipline and, that way, get the possibility to help create smart solutions for environmental issues.”

Socrates believed that right insight leads to right action, this means that our knowledge-based judgement causes us to do wrong, or good! I believe this too, and this is why I want to spread the word about sustainability, and more importantly knowledge about it. With the research portfolio I hope to stimulate research into sustainability and make it more accessible within as well as outside the university, and to establish a platform where students and teachers can share their knowledge on sustainability. Secretly hoping that all these insights will lead to some planet-saving behavior changes as well!
Offline Community Coordinator
“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe”
As the offline community coordinator I want to give our members the tools to strive confidently for a more sustainable future. So students, staff and future partners, feel welcome to contact me and get to know the Green Office!

Online Community Coordinator
“Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world.” – Howard Zinn
In an era where kids grow up knowing more about how to get more followers on instagram than about how to live in a way that respects the earth I think it is important to make people aware of the consequences of our lifestyle. As the online comunity Coordinator it is my goal to create a greater sustainable awareness and to show people that living more sustainably conscious does not have to take much effort.
External Campus Coordinator
If we cannot envision the world we would like to live in, we cannot work towards its creation. If we cannot place ourselves in it in our imagination, we will not believe it is possible. – Chellis Glendinning
‘As the external campus coordinator I aim to raise awareness and create a behavioral change to facilitate sustainability. Additionally, I hope to encourage students at the university to dream a even bigger and work together on new sustainable campaigns. If you have good ideas or want to join us, please contact me!’
Internal Campus Coordinator
I believe the best way to predict the future is to create it. As the Internal Campus coordinator I wish to contribute to the creation of a more sustainable university. Also, I hope to encourage everyone on campus to contribute as well by making small changes towards more sustainable practices. If you are ready to make a change, do not hesitate to contact me!
