Media-Centre-dettaglioMILANO – Since the first World Exhibition in London in 1851 world exhibitions have been held almost every year in different countries and cities.  They’ve functioned as opportunities for the host country to show what is going on in their land in the areas of science, art, architecture and design, and at the same time gave a stage to other countries from all over the world to show their wealth and skills on various levels. Many world exhibitions had lasting effects to the sight of the city it was held in. More often than not a complete district of a city was built or rebuilt to stage a World Exhibition. We still see buildings such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris or the Atomium in Brussels as everlasting trademarks.

This year’s World Exhibition, called EXPO Milano 2015, is being held in Milan, Italy. The Expo Milano 2015 Exposition Site is located in the northwest of Milan and has access to the city’s main public transportation lines, for international, regional, and local travellers alike. The EXPO 2015 is being held in an area of 1.1 million square meters, and more than 140 countries and organizations are participating. The exhibition is a platform for an exchange of ideas and shared solutions on the theme of food, stimulates creativity countries and promotes innovation for a sustainable future. Visitors can participate through various workshops, and attend conferences and performances. Thanks to the theme, visitors will also be able to taste the traditional food and gastronomy of each participating country. The city of Milan and the Expo Site are driven daily by artistic and musical events, conferences, performances, workshops and exhibitions.

Since 1936 various exhibitions have had a special theme, like architecture, water management of the environment. The EXPO 2015 is being held this year, from May 1 to October 31, and has the theme: Nutrire il Pianeta, Energia Per La Vita. This theme incorporates technology, innovation, tradition, culture and creativity, and how these elements relate to food and eating. The EXPO 2015 will attend to these elements in the light of global scenario’s and focus on the right to healthy food and plenty of food for all world inhabitants.  The EXPO 2015 is the largest event ever organized around food and nutrition. For six months countries will show their best technologies and their solutions to the vital need of adequate and healthy food for all people, while respecting the planet and it’s balance.
