Tabitha Saliba
Manager and co-founder (Oct 2014 – Dec 2015)

I feel lucky to have been a part of the founding of the VU’s very own Green Office and thereby a part of the history of the international Green Office movement. It has been an amazing and life changing experience to have met so many inspiring and passionate people. And now there is a platform for these people to come together and make their green ideas grow. So get involved and experience it yourself!
‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.’ – Margaret Mead

Ilyes Machkor
Education Coordinator and co-founder (Oct 2014 – Dec 2015)

Sustainability is not just about recycling, it’s about realizing that the way we currently live is not one we can maintain forever. I believe that we have to start at the University in order to create awareness in our society. With a lot of passion and a vision for the future it is my goal to have every student attend at least one lecture on the subject of sustainability.

Leonore Stevens
Internal Campus Coordinator (March – Nov 2015)

As a member of the very first GO team I contributed to building the Green Office from an idea to a well working organization. that promotes sustainability at the VU. The enthusiasm and commitment of the people involved has been inspiring and I can’t wait to see what the coming years will be accomplished by the Green Office!

Julius Betist
Project member (March – May 2015)

As a member of the very first GO team, I enjoyed helping to lay down the groundwork. I worked amongst likeminded, extremely motivated students. It’s thrilling to see so many competent young people collaborating with each other and come up with cool, feasible ideas that make a difference. Consequently, my knowledge of sustainability has professionalized immensely. Hence, I am a proud GO VU alumnus!

Stefanie van Esveld
Project member (March – August 2015)

During my time at the Green Office I had the opportunity to set up very interesting projects such as “Meatless Monday”, resulting in more vegetarian options at the cafeteria, and “Green Campus”, decorating the office with posters of the beautiful “Amsterdamse Bos”. I had a great time working at the Green Office and encourage everyone to get involved!

Kaylee Zournas
Community Coordinator (March – Sept 2015)

I believe that today is the day to make a difference. With that vision, I entered the VU Green Office. As coordinator of the portfolio Community, I want to encourage everybody on our campus to take a moment, and think about how they will contribute to a better tomorrow. Do you have an idea or want to get involved in another way?

Ivar Maas
Offline Community Coordinator (July 2015 – December 2015) & Education Coordinator (January 2016 – July 2016)

We, the students of today, hold the future. Therefore we have the opportunity to create a habitable climate for future generations. Together we can make this change! As coordinator of the portfolio Education, I seek to raise awareness concerning durability and climate. If you want to get involved and help create a green university contact me!

Dimpel Pabbi
Online Community Coordinator (July 2015 – June 2016)

I joined the Green Office VU without any knowledge about sustainability. However, since it was an upcoming topic, I was eager to know more about it and to actually make a difference myself. During my GO.VU time, I learned a lot and it has helped me to think more sustainably. It has even made me become a vegetarian! Being responsible for the Marketing and Communication of the GO.VU I contributed in raising awareness about sustainability and the Green Office VU among our stakeholders. I happily look back to my time at the GO and the wonderful moments I shared with my fellow team members.

Megan Engels
Offline Community Coordinator (January 2016 – December 2016)

As the students of today we will be the leaders of tomorrow. A wise man once said ‘You must be the change you wish to see in the world.’ I believe that every one of us can make a difference. My Green Office year gave me an amazing opportunity to change the world around me for the better. Sustainability is important and in the future will be so even more. I hope in time it will be the new normal, starting here at the VU!

Marthe van Rijn
Manager (January 2016 – December 2016)

“Joining the Green Office VU has been one of the best decisions I have made. The position of manager offers you a pressure-cooker experience; this is a role in which you will gain essential management skills, including HRM, networking and sustainability competences. The experience has helped to diversify my professionalism and I know that I am now better prepared for any job out there. In this challenging yet rew
arding environment, I have become aware of where my strengths and weaknesses lie and this has contributed significantly to my personal development. You will create a great network, and establish lasting friendships with like-minded people. The position of manager demands a lot, but if you can see yourself leading a dynamic and exciting organisation then this is a launching pad for your future career. It will reward you in many ways that you wouldn’t think possible!”
