Where to Vegan in Amsterdam

VegabondAMSTERDAM – Since the Vegan Challenge is still at hand I thought it’s best to stick with the theme and write some more about vegan stuff! Today I would like to share some of my favourite vegan spots in Amsterdam. Fortunately, Amsterdam is one of the best cities in the Netherlands if you want to eat out and eat vegan. If you have more suggestions, feel free to share them with us!

  1. De Peper – Organic Cultural Kitchen

If you are an easy eater and like to be surprised, De Peper is one of the best Vegan spots in town. De Peper is a non-commercial, non-profit organic cafe project located within the former Netherlands Film Academy, situated at Overtoom 301. They have a set menu that changes daily. All of their food is fresh made and 100% vegan and organic. De Peper is open for food on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 7 pm till 8.30 pm. The price for one meal (soup + main dish) is between 7 and 10 euros.

  1. Vegabond Café

Vegabond Café is a cafe within a store, situated on the Leliegracht 16. You can go there for a great lunch to eat in or to take away. They serve coffee, juices, wraps, sandwiches and cake! There is a small seating area overlooking the canal, and while you’re there you can get your groceries as well. Vegabond Café is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11 am until 7 pm, and on Sundays from 12 pm to 5 pm.

  1. De Vliegende Schotel

Another excellent vegan restaurant is De Vliegende Schotel at the Admiraal de Ruijterweg 331. It is the oldest operating veggie restaurant in town! They have a complete vegetarian menu with some vegan dishes as well. Their dishes are influenced by many different international kitchens. You can get a starter from 3.50 euros, and a main course is about 13 euros. The kitchen is open from 12 pm till 9.30 pm.

  1. Mana Mana

Mana Mana is the best Israeli place in Amsterdam. They have just one meat dish on the menu, and the rest is vegan or vegetarian! The restaurant is nice and cozy, and is located at the Eerste Jan Steenstraat 85hs. They’re open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 5 pm to 10 pm.

  1. Soup Enzo

Soup Enzo is a take-away soup store where they serve the best homemade soups of Amsterdam. On the menu there are soups with meat, but also vegan or vegetarian soups. They also have homemade salads and sandwiches, and their menu changes often. There are different venues of Soup Enzo in Amsterdam, one at the Spiegelstraat and a shop with terrace at the Jodenbreestraat. They are open from 11 am till 8 pm.
